Alumni Update

One of the strongest “chords” of our recovery is often our connection with others. And to that end, our alumni development initiatives include providing new ways for alums to reconnect, develop relationships and simply enjoy recovery together. Over the last several months, alumni have been busy connecting at various workshops, dinners and even featured in International Journals.

A dinner for all Richmond-area alums was held at Mama Cucina’s March 18, 2010, with 13 alums joining four staff members for a great time of fun, food and fellowship. The Richmond area will be the first of many that will begin an Alumni Chapter Group to better serve the recovery needs of alumni and their families.

Upcoming Events:

West Virginia Alumni Dinner: Thursday, April 15, 2010 at 6:00 pm alumni that reside in and around Charleston are invited to join us at The Fifth Quarter Restaurant.

Alumni Volunteer Opportunities

Farley Speaker Series:  If you are a graduate of our Williamsburg Place or Farley Center program and have been in recovery at least 1 year, we would like to invite you to join our speakers bureau.  This volunteer opportunity allows you to share your story with patients currently in our program.  Programs are typically held on Friday afternoons at 1:00 -2:00 pm. If you are interested, please contact Pam Rickard.

Alumni Chapter Group:  the Farley Center at Williamsburg Place has treated over 5,000 families since 1990.  We have alumni all over the country and outside the U.S.  In an effort to remain connected to your friends of Farley and Williamsburg Place, we invite you to host and build an alumni chapter group in your area. If you are interested, please contact Pam.

Alumni Contact:  Do you remember when you were days away from discharging from the program. How were you going to acclimate to life outside of Farley, what will recovery look like when you get home.  Sometimes its important to have that familiar face and support who understands.  We invite you to become an alumni contact for patients preparing to discharge from treatment.  Your role is not sponsor, but instead friend and advocate.  We help you connect with the patient before discharge to set up a time to meet, get a cup of coffee or go to a meeting.  If you are interested in being a contact, please contact Pam.
